Pumham, sachem of Shawomet, and Sacononoco, sachem of Patuxitt, place themselves, their subjects, and their lands under the jurisdiction of Massachusetts. The sachems have signed with their marks after the terms have been explained by their interpreter, Benedict Arnold (an ancestor of the traitor), and witnesses include John Winthrop, governor of Massachusetts Bay.
